       Definition
Co-supervision (cotutelle) is possible for the completion of the doctoral dissertation in which the candidate’s dissertation is supervised by a dissertation advisor from the University of Castilla-La Mancha and a dissertation advisor from another university in a foreign country. The candidate will then be eligible to receive their doctorate degree from both universities.
Objetive

The objective for establishing co-advisors is to foster the scientific collaboration between the University of Castilla-La Mancha and other universities located in countries outside of Spain, as well as to promote the mobility of doctoral candidates and researchers.

Developing the Dissertation under Co-advisory

In order to develop their dissertation, the doctoral student must attend each of the universities for a period of at least 9 months. This requirement can be completed in one period of nine months in each university or various periods of a shorter duration, but with a total of at least nine months.

The dissertation must be written in one of the languages native to the two countries; however, the student must also include an abstract written in the other language. The defense of the dissertation can be done in either of the two languages.

Other forms and procedures

To qualify for “Cum Laude” in UCLM, it is necessary to accomplish the instructions in second paragraph of section 13 of the reading process and thesis defense at UCLM (in Spanish).

If eligible for International Mention in the PhD from the University of Castilla-La Mancha, the requirements detailed in this procedure must be fulfilled.

And, to be eligible for the extraordinary doctorate prize in UCLM, each member of the committe must complete this confidential report.
